This is a photo shoot at Union Square today. ‘Capturre the peeple, ya know, like see them and shoot em an find the thing thats them and put it in yer picturrrs’. My photography lecturer is inclined to make me laugh and I have to keep finding ways to make laughing seem appropriate. She is wont to, in her enthusiasm and fortitude, state absolutes (ya can’t, ya know? I mean ya just can’t) and then contradict herself immediately (try it out! give it go! I mean who said there’s a right way here, ya know? I mean who can say that?). She thinks I should compose my shots more formally; call the people in them to attention and ask them to turn a bit to the left, say. I can’t do this, or don’t want to do this (I can’t tell which, she doesn’t care which) and she suggests using my accent to solve the problem. ‘You can ask em anything with that!’ So I laugh. She does too.
I’ll try composing people another day.
